Levantine at Atlantis- Dubai

On our last night in Dubai it seemed fitting to visit sample the food of the middle east so, we headed to restaurant Levantine.

As soon as you step out from the lobby and enter the restaurant you are transported to an Aladdin’s cave-esque area where, the bar is situated.

Levantine’s decor is colourful and atmospheric at the same time due to the low seating and lighting. The restaurant is spread over two floors with an amazing spiral staircase.

Before going downstairs for dinner, we had some drinks. I had an Elma Chaca, a cocktail made with Cachaca, cherry brandy and fresh apple juice. The Other Half wanted to sample the beer so had a opted for an Almaza.

Chef Ali Bourji’s menu is a mix of authentic Lebanese cuisine and a selection of more contemporary dishes.

Dinner commenced with a selection of hot and cold Mezzeh. I have always made Hommous with more of a course consistency but this we were served was silky and more smoothie like. This was a perfect accompaniment to have with the flatbreads which, were absolutely addictive.

The Halloumi had more of a mozzarella taste to it but with the same consistency you are used to. We were told this was because the cheese is first soaked to ensure the cheese is not as salty.

The other highlight was the Lamb Makanek, these meaty sausages were served with a sweet pomegranate sauce which was easy to mop up with the flat breads.

The main of Lamb shoulder for two was melt in the mouth soft and delicately flavoured. My only issue was that there was just far too much for two !

We did however still have room for a selection of desserts and Arabian coffee to finish our meal.

Levantine was one of our favourite meals and has given us lots of ideas to recreate dishes we had at the restaurant at home. Keep your eyes peeled on the blog for these recipes.

There is so much choice when it comes to dining at Atlantis and I would definitely recommend giving this restaurant a visit.
