Meat sweats at Fazenda Leeds

One thing you need to know about me is that I love meat, I could never realistically be a vegetarian for any long amount of time. With this in mind, I was not going to pass up a chance to eat at Fazenda.

Opening up in 2011, Fazenda was one of the first hip, cool eateries around Granary Wharf which, with it being a stone throw away from the station is fast become the ‘go to’ area in leeds.

Rump of Steak

When my Husband and I went to Mexico the first time we visited a Rodizio restaurant in Riviera Maya, although the food was amazing and not traditionally Mexican, what really made the night was the different characters of the Gaucho chefs who walk around temping you with succulent juicy slabs of meat.

Fazenda website has a booking system, which I was a god send as most places in Leeds now seem not to take reservations, arrived were shown to our seats and the waiter explained the basic principles of the restaurant.

Now if you have never been to a Rodizio restaurant before, the rules are pretty really simple. On your table is a card that is red on one side and green on the other. Gaucho chefs walk round with cuts of meat and if your card is on green it is offered to you. If you need to have a bit of a rest simply turn the card to red.

We then given a starter of empanadas and chips and off we headed to the salad bar. A word of warning here, this experience is a marathon, not, I repeat not a sprint. Think Joey from friend and the Thanks giving turkey-Try your best not to fill up on too much salad, take plenty of breaks.

We sampled everything single meat cut that was offered on our visit even- the chicken hearts. My favourite cut had to be the Picanha which is the restaurant’s signature steak, followed by the Cordeiro , a leg of lamb cut. My other half loved the rump Alcatra and the marinated chicken Frango.

The desserts sound amazing however, I have yet to sample them, or talked to anyone that has but, if there was ever an excuse (like we needed it) to make another trip this is it !
