Really nice food goes to Thai Erawan

You have got to love Groupon everyday I look out for the email telling what fabulous deals are around in the city of Leeds.

A couple of weeks ago there was an offer for Thai Erawan, a Thai restaurant in Roundhay how on earth could I have missed that?

Anyway, deal brought i set off to Thai Erawan, giving the other half the night off and going for a girly dinner and catch up with one of my good friends.

The restaurant is situated on a parade of shops on Roundhay Road, the decor inside was inside instantly reminded me of the restaurants in Thailand off the beaten track with its use of wood and decor on the walls. We were instantly put at ease.

We both opted for a glass of Merlot, to start I had the Mee Krob, a dish of crispy noodles and vegetables with morsels of tofu hiding throughout. It was very different in its’ combination of sticky sweetness and a subtle spice heat. Although both my friend and I enjoyed it, we did think there was too much there and we could not finish it.

My friend had the prawn cakes, Tod Man Gung for a prawn cake it had a very meaty consistency which was fabulous and coupled with the plum sauce was loverly.

For our mains our waiter suggested the Pad Nam Prick Pao (which I had with duck) and the Ga Ta Ron which my friend had with beef. Both were excellent choices and were enjoyed by us both. We especially liked the beef as it came on a sizzling plate.

For our deserts , we shared a chocolate cake (very chocolaty so it was all good) and the deep fried ice cream (think vanilla ice cream and a warm doughnut) it was not too bad but not really my cup of tea. Talking about tea, the Yasmin tea was the perfect end to our meal.

Would go back to Thai Erawan, coupled with a good gossip, it makes a great venue for a weekday evening catch up.
