Dish dining room and bar

Over the last few years going out on a Saturday night have changed somewhat. When I first moved to Leeds a night on the town was more about the drinking and less about the food.

Well, unless you count my end of the night obligatory and somewhat dubious drunken dodgy kebab request.

Anyway, this one Saturday the other half and I decided to hit the town but to try out Dish dining room and bar.  Situated by millennium square, we maneuvered ourselves around the night revelers to enter the organised calm within the restaurant.

What I loved about the decor in Dish was the mix of old and new. The restaurant has retained elements of Georgian building design but with a contemporary open plan kitchen that gives the dining room an intimate and cosy feel.

As we sat down the other half was given the drinks menu which was enclosed in an old classic book (Around the world in eighty days) very fitting as it is his favorite book.

The menu is modern British so, both of us did not really have an idea of what to expect but between to two of us we picked a couple of gems. I loved the slow lamb on a bed of truffled polenta and the other half was impressed with his wild board starter plate.

Since winning the Oliver Award, for best newcomer, there has been a lot of buzz around Dish. As the menu changes from season to season, I am sure we will visit again.
